LocalDate

LocalDate is a date without a timezone. While the value of this class is a date (year, month, and day), there are accessor methods for other values, which are as follows:

  • getDayOfWeek(): This returns the DayOfWeek enum for the day of the week represented by the date.
  • getDayOfYear(): This returns the day of the year (1 to 365, or 366 for leap years) represented by the date. This is a 1-based counter from January 1 of the specified year.
  • getEra(): This returns the ISO era for the given date.

Local dates can be parsed from a string, of course, but, this time, the format seems much more reasonable--yyyy-mm-dd. If you need a different format, the parse() method has been overridden to allow you to specify the DateTimeFormatter that ...
