Portlet coordination in JBoss portal

Although coordination has become a standard recently, JBoss portal has always offered an inter-portlet communication feature. Hence, with the implementation of the new specification, there are two ways to achieve inter-portlet communication in JBoss portal:

  • Using the traditional JSR-168: JBoss portal server has always provided a mechanism for inter-portlet communication using events and its own proprietary implementation using listeners
  • Using JSR-286 style portlet coordination: JBoss portal server fully supports JSR‑286 and offers a strong set of features for portlet coordination that can be wired at runtime. This approach includes both of the options provided by the specification:
