As with many ERP systems, EnterpriseOne takes advantage of the underlying concepts of the client/server architecture. This allows the implementation to take full advantage of the power of the back office servers. To allow for this the EnterpriseOne product uses the concept of kernel processes on any EnterpriseOne servers that execute logic (business functions or batch processes). While these processes are all generically called kernels, each of them plays an important role in the EnterpriseOne implementation by fulfilling specific purposes.
