LAB 28I’m with the Band (Ring)
In this lab, we learn how to measure and solder band rings out of metal strips. (For sizes, see the chart in the Resources section of this book.) There are many tools to help making rings easier: marked and unmarked mandrels (those with no engravings on them), half-round forming pliers, ring clamps, and miter jigs (which hold metal while you file a perfect angle), to name a few. Rings are popular and there are always new devices and products on the market that make creating them much easier. And remember Aristotle’s words: “Well begun is half done.” This is especially true with ring seams.
