To a certain extent, the entire book up until this point has been about the preinterview process. There are also some things that should be done after the interview is scheduled but before it takes place. This mostly involves logistics, but there is also a bit of analytics and practice involved. Fundamentally, the first time you do anything, it’s going to be of less-than-ideal quality. Often, it’ll just be flat-out bad. The best way to improve is to make mistakes—but you don’t want to do that in actual interviews, so you need to prepare.
