An important question concerns whether working in a dissatisfying job has consequences for physical or mental health. Evidence shows that individuals who are in jobs that they dislike experience adverse physical and mental health outcomes (see meta-analysis by Faragher, Cass, & Cooper, 2013). These outcomes are often short-term physical health (e.g., digestive upset or headaches) and mental health (e.g., anxiety or depressed mood) symptoms.
