CONFIGURING SECTIONS, CATEGORIES, ARTICLES, AND MENUS FOR REGISTERED USERS
Sections, categories, articles, full menus, and individual menu items may all be configured with their own access level. To make the process as streamlined as possible, and to keep the maintenance easy, I recommend that you start with a section of content that is just for your registered users.
For our website, let's say that we have a portion of the site available to the board members of the Parent-Teacher Council (PTC). We are going to locate this portion of the website behind a login, and we will need to set up our content for registered users.
We'll begin by creating a section for the PTC. Go to Content Section Manager in the back end of Joomla, and click the New button to create a new section. A screen similar to the one shown in Figure 32-1 will appear.
Enter a title of PTC. Further down in the Details portion of the screen, you will see an option for Access Level. Change this to Registered by clicking on it. Click the Save button in the upper-right corner. When you return to the Section Manager after saving, you will see the PTC section in the list, with the access level set to Registered, as shown in Figure 32-2.
