All kinds of Joomla tutorials are online, and this chapter takes a look at ten of the best. Some are general Joomla tutorials, showing you how to install Joomla and get it up and running; others cover specific topics, such as creating Joomla templates or modules.

SiteGround offers an extensive Joomla 1.5 tutorial (see Figure 16-1), including installation and a good introduction to creating your own Joomla site in a few steps. This tutorial is well illustrated and worth taking a look at.

Joomla Template Tutorial

This page on the Joomla.org Web site is primarily for Joomla developers, and it has a good tutorial on developing Joomla templates, which takes you though the various stages of creating the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and PHP for a template. The tutorial also includes a discussion of what makes a template good.
