How it works...

We load the libraries we are going to use. Again, it's important to set matplotlib to display the resulting graphic inline, that is, within our Jupyter script results.

We first load in the .mpg data from the CSV file. The file does not have column headers denoting which column is which, so we add those at the same time. The print(head) command results in the display of the first few rows of the dataset. This visually validates that our dataset is formatted correctly.

Next, we plot out each of the data points in the 3D format that we are concerned with. We also keep a track of the coordinate range limits (for later display).

Finally, we tell matplotlib that all of this data is a Scatter diagram and display it.
