What Is Programming?

A computer program turns a collection of components into a useful machine, capable of taking information, processing it, and putting the results on the screen. Everything that enables the computer to do something or that allows the user to interact with information is the result of a program.

Programming refers to the technique used to:

  • Determine how the computer should achieve a task that the programmer would like it to.
  • Create a set of instructions that reflect the steps required to achieve the desired result.
