Well, maybe you don’t. Do you have “baby sticks” (a very short cinema tripod)? Or a Hi-Hat (a very, very, low-to-the-ground camera mount)? If not, you might want to consider the simple-to-build rig in this chapter: the Gun Crazy camera pedestal, made especially for the dolly I hope you just finished. What a pedestal does is raise your camera to different heights; anywhere from just about dolly level to 3′ or 4′ above (or more if you want, but at that point you might consider building one of the jibs in the book).
