Stephen Quinn joined Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates as an associate professor of journalism in August 2001. He was previously a senior lecturer in journalism at Deakin University in Victoria, Australia. He started as a cadet reporter on the Newcastle Morning Herald in Australia in 1975. While there he was introduced to sub-editing because it was company policy that all cadets spent time on the subs’ table. He later worked as a reporter on the Central Coast Express at Gosford and the Singleton Argus, both in New South Wales in Australia.
