Appendix 3: Conventions for Mathematical Notations
A3.1 EUCLIDEAN TENSORS REPRESENTATION AND CALCULUS
In this appendix we will limit ourselves to introduce a formal and a coordinate representation for tensor algebra and calculus in Euclidean spaces, where covariant and contravariant versions of a vector are identical having the same coordinates [1].
In this book the need of using generalized Riemann varieties never arises, thus we will not enter into the complication of dealing with this general formalism.
We will use both an abstract notation, where vectors and tensors are represented with single symbols, and a coordinate notation, where the equations are represented through vector and tensor coordinates.
