Chapter 4. Magnetic Circuits and Measurements

In practice, many practical devices use some form of magnetic circuit that usually contains coils wound on magnetic materials (such as iron cores). The coil currents flow in associated electrical circuits.

The magnetic effect of a current in a magnetic circuit is utilized in numerous applications, such as in electromagnets for lifting loads, in electric motors to produce torques, and in generators to generate electromotive force (emf).
