Laser-Induced Damage in Optical Materials
Until now, scattering light diagnostics is one of the ecient detection techniques,
and hence is applied to on-the-y evaluation of laser-induced damage. e major lim-
itation associated with this technique is the background noise that tends to lower its
measurement sensitivity. e measurement precision is oen improved by adopting
the following three approaches: (1) determine multiple measurement results at the
same test site and take the average value of measurements; (2) increase the gain of the
detector; and (3) lter the background noises by means of other advanced techniques.
