8 Common Lasers and Parameters
We conclude with a quick survey of some common types of lasers including many that have been featured in examples throughout this text.
For each type of laser, parameters are given (a summary of parameters used throughout the book in various examples). These numbers were obtained from research papers or, where possible, from manufacturers (especially for solid-state laser materials) and thus represent values for commercially available materials. Where discrepancies exist between manufacturers’ values, either an average or an “accepted” value is used (i.e. one quoted in research literature) as noted.
