Chapter 5: The Leadership Matrix

Once you’ve assessed the leadership capital you’re investing in each team member and evaluated the output you’re getting from them in return, you can plot their positions on the Leadership Matrix. The Leadership Matrix defines four distinct team-member-behavior profiles that have different leadership needs. Identifying which behavioral patterns each team member is demonstrating helps you determine an appropriate approach for leading them. This approach enables you to make smart choices as to how to invest your time and effort. The Leadership Matrix also gives you a common framework to discuss performance issues with your team members.
