Change, as the saying goes, is the only certainty—in this dynamic world the only inevitability is change. People generally seek constancy, so we’re permanently in a state of trying to prevent, fighting against or adjusting to change. At best, we can end up with ‘dynamic equilibrium’ where the ebbs and flows of life don’t actually result in radical change but allow us to plan ahead with a degree of confidence.
