8 Managing a dispersed team


Effective teams are at the heart of all successful organisations, but in the last few years our perception of what a team actually is has changed. Traditionally, teams tackled projects that brought them together regularly in one place so that strategy, progress, and (ultimately) success could be monitored. The vast technological advances of the late 20th and early 21st centuries have meant that virtual teams—often based in different countries, and sometimes different time zones—can tap into the Internet and other communications tools to work together on projects with a global reach.
