Driving Positive Change

In the preceding chapters, we explored how to apply asset-based thinking (ABT) strategies to maximize your leadership effectiveness in the moment. In this chapter, we focus on what you must do to drive positive change over the long haul as you lead your team down the path of achieving a vision.

Change—positive or negative—can be provoked by crisis, chance, or choice (see figure 12.1). But, really, the source of change is irrelevant. It is what you do to lead your organization through the stages of change that makes the difference between success and failure and ensures that the change is positive and transformational.
