Receptivity Is Only the First Step of Development

These results highlight how feedback receptivity is influenced by multiple factors, but we want to emphasize here that how a person reacts to feedback information is only the first step of his or her growth and development. The essence of development through feedback lies in using it and not just receiving it positively. A manager who is very receptive during a feedback session but who never thinks about the information again or never applies it in everyday life will not benefit from it.

The ability to take an active part in the feedback session can make a person more receptive to what he or she hears.
