Were it not for the protection that mothers provide, the world could seem like an overwhelmingly dangerous place. There are times in our lives when we need to face our fears—the fear of being an outcast, shunned, or punished for what we believe. We gain mental strength and moral determination by watching the actions of our mothers in the face of resentment or danger. When we see them respond with moral courage, resisting injustice or persevering in the face of hard times, we see courage in its fullest form.
