INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: GOSSIP VERSUS COMPUTERS
At first glance traditional societies do not have much to offer in terms of information management. Many of them remain in places where you can still disappear off the known world: you exist beyond the reach of the internet, mobile phones and computers.
Information management in most tribes seems to consist of gossip. Gossip in the market place, gossip while working the fields, gossip while playing games with stones, gossip while walking. It is a 24/7 sort of information system in which everyone knows exactly what everyone is doing and how they are feeling.
Of course, business leaders don’t gossip. Do they?
