The next two months were a blur. MMC was experiencing some positive changes due to Mike's implementation of Coach's leadership rules. MMC employees began to respond positively over time as they stopped seeing Mike as simply an outsider. The level of work was already rising and the rewards program for work well done was all anyone could talk about. There was a brand-new mood and the outlook was good.

Mike was also making ground with Kristy. His phone call asking for forgiveness proved to be a turning point. They were now talking regularly, feeling a warmth they hadn't had in years. That made them all happy, but especially Billy.

And of course, the East Creek Cougars had continued their dominance of Texas State high school football. ...
