Implications for Suppliers, Consumers, and Employers
PROVIDERS AND HEALTH PLANS are the central actors in health care delivery, and we have described how their strategies and operating practices need to change in order to unleash value-based competition. Suppliers, consumers, and employers also have important roles in catalyzing and supporting such competition. By moving to value-based thinking, suppliers, consumers, and employers will benefit while speeding systemic transformation. There is no need to wait for regulatory reform or for other system participants to act.
