Milestone: You have tied the pieces together and defined power relationships
Once strategic grouping is complete—that is, once the framework is set for the major organizational units—it is time to begin thinking about integration. The objective is to tie the pieces back together so that work, decision making, and communication can flow horizontally as well as vertically. This is especially important for the matrix organization, as the matrix is largely about creating vigorous forms of teamwork across boundaries.
