Transmitting Empathy to Show Character: Developing Trust

Using the imagination, practicing empathy, and “showing the math” are solid building blocks of trust. Thanks to Scott Adams (creator of “Dilbert”) and the new speed of travel of some well-founded cynicism about leadership, trust is no longer the default response from constituents to those with authority, particularly in business and politics. When “Dilbert” was beginning to bloom in every cubicle in the United States, the Internet was giving us opportunities to develop, post to, and search sites where one could offer comments, totally uncensored, about one’s leader or anything else.
