Alan Abbot realized the importance of effective instructional design a decade ago when, as an adjunct instructor at Indiana University Southeast, he was teaching a course for the second time in two semesters. The first time he taught the class, some of the students failed to grasp the relationship between some of the material. Without a complete schema, they struggled with some of the assignments.
