Now we introduce you to the Leadership Development Path (see Figure 4.1), which is the people or human aspect part of the BASICS® Lean Model (see Figure 4.2). The developmental part of the Leadership Development Path breaks down into the following four components:

  1. Learning to See—Team Member Self-Reliance (TSR)—Teaches team members how to see waste, break down the job, and be responsible and accountable to perform and improve their job
  2. Learning to Solve—Improving Business Practices—Teaches leaders how to problem solve and continuously improve the way jobs are performed
