I assume that you’re an IT professional and not someone off the street reading this book because you enjoy my entertaining prose. As an author who wants you to be successful with IIS, I want to define what you need to know and have in hand before you start so you can decide whether you should brush up on any weak points. As you use this book, you may find some areas where you need some additional information or training. That’s not a bad thing; it’s how most of us have been successful in our careers with constantly changing technology—we find out what we’re missing and get that information. I assume that’s why you’re holding this book. Congratulations—it gets easier from here.
