Debugger concepts

The following terms are used while discussing debugging and they are standard across all debuggers:

  • Breakpoint: This is one of the most important and coolest feature of debuggers. Breakpoint is an intentional stopping place in a program, inserted via the debugger for debugging purposes. Generally, during this interruption, the programmer inspects the various environment variables, arguments, functions, files, logs, memory, and so on, to find out if the program is working as expected.
