Accessing objects

Data within Ceph is stored in indivisible units called Objects. All Objects are allocated within a user-specified namespace called a pool. A Ceph pool is a logical partition of all Objects within its storage space. Objects can be replicated within a pool, but cannot be replicated across multiple pools automatically. Users will need to manually copy an object to another pool if that type of replication is needed, but this is not the part of a typical workflow. We will look into pools more holistically later in this chapter.
