Chapter 2. Installation

After introducing TeamCity and some of its major features in the previous chapter, we will take a look at installing TeamCity—the server and the agent—in this chapter.

The aim of this chapter is to get started with a basic installation of TeamCity that can be used to configure and run the builds in the upcoming chapters. Since the default packages come with both the server and the agent, the installation of these packages is sufficient to get started with a working setup. The instructions here are not meant for heavy production use. Please refer to Chapter 12, Making It Production Ready, for some pointers in that regard.
