7. Going Cross-Platform
An app that stands alone on iPhone or iPad can be an eminently useful thing. But an app with multiple incarnations on a combination of iPhone, iPad, other mobile platforms, desktop platforms, and the web can be exponentially more valuable. It’s getting rare to find an app that exists only on one platform; almost anything worth building on iPhone or iPad is worth building on the other, too, at the very least. Many apps are worth building somewhere outside iOS, too.
Or you may be thinking of bringing an existing app from another platform to iOS. In that case, similar considerations apply, but in the opposite direction. This chapter covers both situations.
