Integrating FCM

  1. Set up FCM SDK

You first have to add the SDK (Software Development Kit) to your app. You should make sure you are targeting at least Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It should have the Google Play Store app installed, or an emulator running Android 4.0 and Google APIs. Your Android Studio version should be at least 2.2. You will use the Firebase Assistant window within Android Studio to do the integration.

Also, make sure you have installed Google Repository version 26 or higher, using the following steps:

  1. Click Tools | Android | SDK Manager
  2. Click the SDK Tools tab
  3. Check the Google Repository checkbox, and click OK
  4. Click OK to install
  5. Click Background to complete the installation in the background, or wait for the installation ...
