XML is text based and well suited for data exchange and XML data can be easily parsed. Most browsers can directly deal with XML data as it is an Internet-standard format. XML data can come from many sources such as data from Web services, data from Excel documents, and many others.

XML data is being used extensively between businesses and there are times you may need to create reports using XML-formatted data. This hands-on exercise shows a simple example of creating a report based on data in an XML file. This file can be on your desktop/laptop or on the server.
