PowerShell is Microsoft's automation framework to carry out tasks in Windows OS and is used extensively by administrators. It has largely overcome the limitations of the previously used command-line languages, such as Command.com, cmd.exe, VBScript, and MSh. It is being increasingly integrated with various Microsoft Products such as Exchange server, SQL Server, and Microsoft SharePoint Server. PowerShell comes loaded with the OS for both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
