PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION: THE FACE OF ONLINE LEARNING TODAY

The thought of doing a second edition of this book at first seemed to be a daunting task. We asked our editors to seek out prerevision reviews of the original edition because we continued to receive good feedback about its usefulness, although we knew it was somewhat outdated. We worried about how we might stay true to the original work while updating it. We needn't have worried: as we read the book anew and looked at the reviews, it became clear to us that much of the content in the original was woefully out of date.
