Introduction

This book represents insights and experience gained from 30 years of experience working on projects, managing projects, and managing people who were managing projects. Like most project managers, I didn’t learn formal project management before I started managing projects. Initially, managing projects just meant determining the work that needed to be done and working with one or more people to get it done. After managing projects a few times, I became more comfortable planning out the work and managing it to completion.
