Software does not exist in a vacuum. It is written for and by people. Sometimes software is created just for fun or to satisfy the needs of the creator. Other times, the software exists to serve a business. Employees of a company think that a software product can be sold or need custom software built to enable other employees to perform a task more efficiently.
