When setting target goals for turnaround you must consider all the components within the pro-
cess to make sure that the goal is attainable. Example: If the turnaround goal for the result is 30
minutes, collection time = 6 min, transport time = 8 minutes, receipt time in lab = 3 min; machine
time = 15 min
6 min + 8 min + 3 min + 15 min = 32 min (total time)
Goal = 30 minutes
You will not be able to achieve the goal unless you can identify the waste and reduce the total
process or transport time, or purchase the equipment necessary to decrease the machine processing
time.
