Available time = time per shift 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. = 8 hrs x 60 min = 480 min (note:
lunches are covered by staff or charge nurse)
Hourly non-critical demand = 10 patients per hour (note: demand by hour does not
always = the average)
Daily shift non-critical demand (8 hrs shift 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m) = 80 patients per day
Total process time from the process boxes = 19 min (5 + 6 + 8)
Total storage times (or wait times in the triangle boxes) = 60 min (10 + 5 + 45)
