New libraries and new librarians?

In Chapter 2 I started off by showing a simple division of libraries by types. It was displayed as a traditional division, and the point was basically only to show that the library sector as it developed through most of the twentieth century in many aspects was a divided sector which encapsulated a number of professional and institutional settings and identities. If you were a public librarian, you were not a librarian at a scientific library – and vice versa.
