The future of and for library and information services: a public library view

This chapter is written from the public library perspective at possibly a unique time in the history of the public library service. Firmly embedded within local authorities, UK public libraries, along with other local authority services, are bracing themselves for the most severe budget cuts in a generation, possibly in the post-war period.
