WORKING WITHIN A LIMITED TIME
When drawing a head from life in a limited amount of time, you must make adjustments to the seven-stage process. Keep the following three points in mind as you draw: (1) You must draw at a smaller size: the final drawing on this page (bottom right) is shown at actual size and took an hour; (2) you should use 18-lb marker paper and rely less on the 9B and more on the 5B and 2B pencils (these are harder and better suited for small details); and (3) you must combine stages.
