23.3 STEERING AND SUSPENSION BALL JOINTS
Requirements of steering ball joints
The need for incorporating ball joints in the steering
linkage of both beam axle and independent suspension
systems was explained earlier. Before looking at the
constructional details of these joints, it may be useful to
summarize what is expected of them. They must:
1 Accommodate both angular displacement of the
steering links and rotational movement of the steering
levers, as related to the suspension and steering
motions of the road wheels.
