series of lateral grooves on the periphery of the bushing
where it is inserted into the end of the rack housing.
The complete assembly of rack and pinion is mounted
across either the front suspension cross-member, or the
engine compartment bulkhead, depending upon the
design requirements of any particular car. Methods of
attachment include outrigger brackets from the rack
housing and encircling U-shaped clamps (Figure 23.35).
