it is necessary to include an instrument voltage stabilizer
(IVS) in the ignition-controlled supply circuit to the
gauges (Figure 28.25). This device is again of bimetal
construction and similar in operating principle to the
transmitter unit described earlier for the oil pressure
gauge, but in this case the oscillation of the bimetallic
strip and contacts is such that a constant and slightly
lower mean input voltage to the instruments is main-
tained.
