Neon is also used in indicator lamps of electronic devices while the rest of the
gases are used in more specic applications such as discharge tubes for LASERs.
Xenon under pulsed conditions (microsecond scale and frequency of several
hundred Hz) and low pressure (several tens of Torr) generates short bursts of
high-intensity white light and nds applications in photography (Figure3.26 and
spectrum in Figure3.27).
A similar technology is that of the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) that does
