sulfur lamp is quite high (see Table3.26) compared to other lamp technologies,
and lighting a building’s interior is possible by directing the emitted light of one
lamp to the desired spaces through optical tubes. The spectrum of such a lamp
is shown in Figure3.75. The emissions are the result of excitations not of sulfur
atoms but of sulfur molecules (S2), therefore the continuous spectrum covers the
entire visible region. The luminous efcacy of these lamps exceeds 100 lm/W and
the consuming power is on the order of kilowatts.
